LOWER PAXTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — Work begins Tuesday on a section of Interstate 81 in Dauphin County to widen and improve the interstate.
Drivers may encounter single lane traffic in one or both directions overnight while the work is begin done.
According to PennDOT, the single lane traffic will happen between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. between exit 70 (Interstate 83) and Exit 72 (Mountain Road/Linglestown).
The speed limit on this stretch of Interstate 81 will be reduced to 45 miles per hour around the clock until November 2017. The speed limit will also be lowered on Interstate 83 North, approaching I-81.
This project is part of a $13.6 million widening project to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.
