BONNEAUVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A 22-year-old Adams County man died when his bicycle was struck by a pickup truck Monday night in Mount Pleasant Township.

William A. Smith, of Gettysburg, was traveling north on Bon-Ox Road when he was struck just after 8 p.m., state police said.

Police said Smith was in the lane of travel and traveling at night without reflective clothing or proper lighting for the front and rear of the bicycle.

The pickup driver, a 72-year-old Abbottstown man, was also traveling north and did not see Smith due to the lack of reflective clothing and proper lighting, police said.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Gettysburg station at 717-334-8111.
