MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – A Middletown woman charged with stealing $530,000 from two of her former employers has pleaded guilty.
Diane M. Fabian, 66, pleaded guilty Thursday to 76 charges of forgery, theft by deception, and theft by failure to make required deposition.
Diane Fabian admitted that for years she embezzled money from Wolf Strite Insurance Agency, and later Don Jacobs Insurance Services, Inc.
According to authorities, starting in at least 2008, Fabian forged customer names on company checks and later deposited the funds to her own account. To get the checks, she would inform the company that a client had been overbilled or that a refund was due. In other instances, insurance companies would issue a refund check, but Fabian would forge the customer’s name, deposit the check and keep the money.
Diane Fabian told investigators that her gambling addiction fueled the thefts.
Each charge Fabian faces carries a 7-year statutory maximum in prison.
Fabian is expected to be sentenced on January 5.
