HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Joel Sears is the Republican candidate for the 95th state House district in York County.
abc27 News is making free airtime available to candidates. The following is the full-text of Sears’s statement:
“My name is Joel Sears and I’m running for State Representative in the 95th Legislative District.
As a parent, grandfather and former school board member, I understand the challenges faced by parents, educators and taxpayers alike. We all want the best possible education for our children, but we know that financial resources are limited. Throughout our District, property taxes are nearly as high as our mortgages and yet our schools struggle to balance their budgets every year.
As your representative, I will fight for property tax and education financing reform, beginning with the replacement of school property taxes through revenue-neutral increases in personal income tax and sales tax. Education funding will flow where it’s needed, no longer depending on our ZIP codes. Billions will be returned to taxpayers, home values will no longer be threatened by ballooning school taxes, and our District will be one of the best places in the Mid-Atlantic to create jobs, work and live.
I ask for your vote on November 8th and I promise to put your interests first – no pension, no healthcare, no perks. I invite you to contact me directly to discuss your concerns and hopes for the District.”
