HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) – A Derry Township bridge that carries cars from Park Avenue over Spring Creek will close for utility work, beginning Monday.

According to PennDOT, the bridge, located between ZooAmerica and Trinidad Avenue, will be closed for about a month.

A signed detour will direct motorists around the bridge closure by way of Route 743, Route 422, and Hersheypark Drive.

In a news release, PennDOT said the closure is necessary for Verizon and Pennsylvania American Water to relocate their facilities from the bridge to a suitable location nearby.

The closure is in preparation for a nearly $3 million construction project to replace the superstructure of the bridge. That construction will be conducted over the winter months.
