Lawnmowers recalled for laceration hazard

WASHINGTON (WHTM) – About 235,000 lawnmowers sold at Lowe’s, Sears and other hardware stores and home centers have been recalled because the safety bar can malfunction and cause the engine to not shut off.

This recall is for lawnmowers made by Husqvarna and sold under the Husqvarna, Poulan Pro, Jonsered, Craftsman, Yardworks, Murray, and Brute brands. The walk-behind gas powered mowers have Briggs & Stratton 7.25 HP engines.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says Husqvarna has received 53 reports of the engine not shutting off after the operator presence control bar was released.

Consumers can go to Husqvarna’s website to determine if their mower needs a free repair.
