Candidate for Pennsylvania’s 9th District accused of harassing opponent’s staffer

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – One of the candidates for United States Representative in Pennsylvania’s 9th District is responding to a harassment charge against him by calling it “a false report to law enforcement.”

The Herald Standard reports Art Halvorson is accused of assaulting one of incumbent U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster’s campaign staffers by grabbing her tightly by the wrist and questioning her involvement while she was greeting people at the Fayette County Fair in August.

Halvorson’s campaign released the following response to ABC27:

“This is a politically trumped up charge that was contrived months ago and is surfacing now to smear Art Halvorson, who is a major threat to the corrupt Shuster Dynasty. If anyone is in trouble it’s Shuster’s staffer, and possibly the Congressman himself, for presenting a false report to law enforcement and abusing taxpayer resources.”

Halvorson lost the GOP nomination to Shuster in May, but managed to earn a nomination as a Democrat through write-in votes.
