Just two days before faculty at state-owned universities are expected to walk off the job, negotiations between the faculty’s union and the State System of Higher Education continue.
The two sides reportedly met through the weekend, although it’s unknown if any progress was made.
Faculty members had set October 19 as their potential strike date.
A spokesperson for the State System of Higher Education said the goal is to keep schools open in any way they can. Students will still be required to go to class, even though a teacher might not be there.
Both sides said they are hoping to reach an agreement.
