(Upper Allen Township Police Department)

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police have filed charges against a Lemoyne man in connection with a hit-and-run crash that injured a 5-year-old girl in Upper Allen Township.

Bill L. Stine, 44, was charged Monday with accidents involving death or personal injury, duty to give information and render aid, immediate notice of accident to police department, and careless driving.

Stine admitted he was in the 1100 block of Granada Lane when the crash occurred on the afternoon of Sept. 21, but he claimed he did not know he hit a child, Upper Allen police said in a news release.

Authorities said the charges were based on information obtained during the investigation. One witness reported seeing the car traveling at a high rate of speed.

The girl was walking with other children and had attempted to cross the street when she was struck. Police said she was treated at a hospital for a few scratches, but she had no broken bones.
