Controlled burns begin at Fort Indiantown Gap

FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. (WHTM) – People may notice smoke coming from Fort Indiantown Gap over the next five weeks.

The military training facility has begun prescribed burns to reduce the risk of wildfires.

The burns will be conducted on approximately 5,000 acres, as conditions permit, Oct. 10 through Nov. 23 between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.

People may also call Fort Indiantown Gap’s community information line at 717-861-2007 to hear a recorded message with dates and times of community activities and training events.
