Temperatures have felt like Fall over the past few days, but that is about to change. By Tuesday and Wednesday we’ll likely be breaking record highs as we move into the 80s for a couple of days. Even Monday will feature temperatures touching 80 in a couple of communities. If this warmth is up your alley, the fact that it should be nice and sunny both days will make it even better! In fact, by Wednesday afternoon our region will even experience a touch of humidity. It won’t be oppressive, but certainly surprising to experience in late October. Indian Summer is a perfect description given the fact that most of our region has already experienced their first frost of the season.
A large area of high pressure will slide off the East Coast and move into a position very similar to what we would typically see in the summer months. You can see on the image below that the placement of the high will allow warm air from the southeast to lift north to our region. This will also keep our nighttime lows in the 60s during the week. Those numbers are closer to what our afternoon highs should be (63° this time of year).
The warmth does break late in the week as a stronger cold front does deliver a stray shower on Thursday and a better chance on Friday. For the weekend the heat will be a distant memory with highs only around 60°!
