Police: Drunk driver crashed into 2 homes during pursuit


MARIETTA, Pa. (WHTM) – A 20-year-old is facing a list of charges after he led police on a chase that ended in significant damage to two properties in Marietta.

Police said Skyler Matthew Barr was driving drunk on Oct. 8 when police attempted to stop him for a faulty headlight.

crash-in-mariettaSkyler sped off, but soon after struck the stairway and porch of an apartment building on Apple Ave. Two people standing on the porch at the time of the crash were unharmed, police said.

Barr continued driving and later struck the rear of another apartment building on W. Market St. Police said residents sleeping inside the apartment were not injured.

Barr abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into an apartment where he was arrested.

Once in custody, Barr gave false identity information and even threatened an officer.

He was committed to Lancaster County Prison and charged with terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, driving under the influence of alcohol being a minor, fleeing/eluding police, and other related charges.
