LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – Police say they arrested three men who tampered with evidence at a shooting incident in the city on Thursday.
Jose Acosta, 18; Elvis Salcedo, 19; and Jared Ruperto, 20, all of Lancaster, each face misdemeanor counts of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and criminal conspiracy to commit tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
Police said the investigation began after a 19-year-old city man walked into Lancaster General Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his jaw. He told authorities he was shot in the area of Reservoir Park on East King Street, but police found no evidence of a shooting there.
They did, however, find blood on the sidewalk and steps leading to a home in the 500 block of West Orange, and they saw at least two people in the home climb onto the roof from a rear window and throw items into a neighboring yard.
The men went back into the home through the window, and when officers entered they found Acosta, Salcedo, and Ruperto as well as blood in a bedroom, a small amount of heroin, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, shell casings, and other evidence related to the shooting, police said. The gun used in the shooting was not found.
Acosta is additionally charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Salcedo faces an additional charge of possession of heroin.
