U.S. Navy veteran received medals more than four decades after service

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A United States Navy veteran got his replacement medals Wednesday after more than 40 decades after his service.

Congressman Lou Barletta (R-Cumberland, Dauphin, & Perry Counties) gave Steven Beeman three medals at Beeman’s Baked Goods in Carlisle for his service in the 1970s.

The veteran never received the medals. Those medals include the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon.

“I’m so humbled to be even a small part of just presenting them, those medals, and these are our heroes, our veterans who deserve all the gratitude and thanks that we could never give them enough,” Rep. Barletta said.

Beeman served the country for almost four years.
