LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) – Images of mold are circulating social media — claiming to be the results of a mold test done at schools in the Northern Lebanon School District. Concerned parents reached out to us looking for answers.
ABC27 went to Northern Lebanon County High School and the principal asked us to leave…but we didn’t stop there.
Lisa Mccoy is a mother of three. Social media has her concerned for their well being. Mccoy is part of the Northern Lebanon Parents Facebook page. It was posted Tuesday night that there was mold in several different parts, including the middle school and high school’s library and locker rooms.
The test was reportedly performed by concerned parents in Northern Lebanon schools. The parents did say the superintendent, Dr. Don Bell, has ignored mold issues for years. Parents tried to get O.S.H.A. involved, but when we reached out to the agency, it said this is out of its jurisdiction.
Officials pointed us to the County Health Department who turned us over to the Department of Health who said they have no official role in it either. It turns out the school board is responsible for its own mold issues.
The superintendent releasing a statement today saying the situation was just brought to his attention. The letter goes on to say they have not had any reports of mold but they have secured a professional environmental engineering firm to complete tests with results that will possibly be ready for review Friday.
Meanwhile, the social media posts are growing as parents are concerned for the safety and welfare of their kids.
