East Pennsboro police catch burglar in the act

ENOLA, Pa. (WHTM) — Police caught a home burglar in the act on Monday morning in East Pennsboro Township.

An off-duty Dauphin County Probation officer spotted Joseph Bortz, 20, trying to open a door to a home around 11:45 a.m. Bortz climbed through a window after an unsuccessful attempted to walk in through a car port door, according to a press release from police. The off-duty officer called police and the home was surrounded by the time Bortz walked out the front door carrying stolen items.

Police connected Bortz, of Lemoyne, to two other burglaries reported earlier this month in Enola.

Bortz is charged with burglary, theft, and criminal trespass.
