GAP, Pa. (WHTM) – One person is dead after a four-vehicle crash on Route 30 in Lancaster County Friday morning.
The crash closed the roadway in both directions in the area of Hoffmeier Road in Salisbury Township for some time.
A female passenger that was being transported to a nursing home in a van died at the scene, according to state police.
She has not been identified.
The van traveled into oncoming traffic in the eastbound lane and struck another vehicle head on, police said. At that point, the van spun in counterclockwise rotation and struck another vehicle, causing the van to flip onto its side.
A fourth vehicle crashed into the vehicle that was struck head on by the van.
The woman who died was ejected from the van.
The driver of the van was taken to Lancaster General Hospital with moderate injuries.
The driver of the car that was struck head on was flown to the hospital with critical injuries.
Another driver suffered moderate injuries.
