Uber driver charged after kissing female passenger

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – State police in Cumberland County have charged an Uber driver after they say he locked a female passenger inside his vehicle and then kissed her.

Vincent N. Messan, 46, of McConnellsburg, is charged with harassment and false imprisonment for the Sept. 18 incident.

Police say Messan was driving a black Lincoln Navigator when he picked up the 22-year-old woman in Shippensburg Township. During the ride, Messan reportedly told the woman she was beautiful and asked her out on a date.

When they arrived at her home, the woman realized the child safety locks were on. Messan told her he would let her out only if she gave him her phone number. After getting out of the SUV, police said Messan cornered the woman and kissed her on the lips.

The woman broke free and ran to safety, police said.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 31.
