HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A soup fundraiser to fuel hungry stomachs is coming to the Country Club of Harrisburg.
Downtown Daily bread in Harrisburg will feature a battle of the chefs, who will whip up soups with items that DDB’s chefs use to make meals for the hundreds of clients they serve.
The Soup Showdown will also include an auction with items including vacation condos in Aspen, Ft. Myers and Cabo San Lucas.
The money raised supports DDB’s soup kitchen along with its Lunch Plus and Drop In Center. Between the two, the programs offer lockers, showers, laundry, employment opportunities, counseling, a place to rest, health checks and access to a computer.
“The need has grown and we need to be able to purchase all the supplies to be able to provide a healthy complete meal every day of the week. This is our only fundraiser of the year and we need the community’s support.” Elaine Strokoff, Executive Director, of Downtown Daily Bread said.
Melanie Rodriguez appreciates the help. She was forced to start over. Downtown Daily Bread offered Rodriguez assistance.
“I came to Harrisburg and Downtown Daily Bread were the first people to help me have food wash my clothing and take a shower. God bless everyone and support Downtown Daily Bread.”
If you would like to show support, the Soup Showdown is Sunday, October 23 at the Country Club of Harrisburg, click here to purchase tickets.
