How Cedar Cliff’s Andy Bell became a Spartan

Four years ago Cedar Cliff teacher Andy Bell needed a change.  He was over 260 pounds, experiencing back pain, headaches and anxiety.  His wife pushed him to run a 5k on Thanksgiving.  That experience changed everything.  One race, became two, became three, until he became…a Spartan.

Now Andy is a certified personal trainer.  He works out every day before school, then teaches work out classes and trains after it.  He has run in 46 Spartan Races.  What’s a Spartan Race? Oh it’s just ten plus miles of some of the most difficult obstacles known to man.  Ranging from running through mudd, climbing walls, and throwing spears.  This month he competed in the world championship race in Lake Tahoe.  He finished in the top 50% of elite male runners.  What’s the end goal you ask? He says he’s already met it.  His life is better.
