HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Christina Hartman is the Democratic candidate in the race for the 16th Congressional District, which includes most of Lancaster County and part of Berks County.
ABC27 News is making free airtime available to candidates. The following is the full-text of Hartman’s statement, as prepared:
“I’m Christina Hartman, and I’m running for U.S. Congress.
I’ve spent my career negotiating and advocating for human rights abroad.
What I learned in Lancaster – our values, a commitment to community service – has made me the leader I am today.
I’ve come home because we need someone in Congress who puts ordinary Pennsylvanians before special interests.
Our district needs common sense solutions that work for the middle class. I’ll work with people from different perspectives to strengthen Social Security, invest in affordable education and job training,
and create tax breaks that help small businesses add local jobs.
We deserve a Congresswoman who will tackle partisanship, not create division.
Lloyd Smucker, puts big business before people, standing in the way of good jobs. And he opposes a woman’s right to choose.
A vote for Smucker is a vote for Trump, and that tears us down.
We need to end the gridlock in Washington, and that’s what I’ll do.
I’m Christina Hartman, and I’m running for U.S. Congress.”
