LANCASTER, Pa. – (WHTM) – A local Pennsylvania state police trooper was one of several troopers honored for their patrol work out of the Lancaster and Avondale barracks.
In a ceremony last week, a Letter of Commendation was presented to Trooper Stefanie Schiavoni of Troop J Lancaster for totaling 57 DUI arrests on Midstate highways in the past two years. Her superiors said Schiavoni’s actions had a direct impact on reducing crashes and injuries in Chester and Lancaster counties.
Among the other troopers honored was Trooper Patrick Kilgarif who saved a motorcyclist’s life by rendering first aid at the scene of an accident in April. The motorcyclist lost a leg in the accident but managed to survive the accident when Trooper Kilgarif used a tourniquet to stop the victim’s bleeding.
