Sex offender gets 25-50 years for having child pornography

Todd D. Atkinson (submitted)

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A convicted sex offender will serve at least 25 years in prison for having a collection of child pornography while he was in treatment for his previous offense.

Todd D. Atkinson, 47, of Ephrata, was ordered to serve 25 to 50 years in state prison at sentencing this week, according to Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman’s office.

Prosecutors said he had hundreds of child pornography images on a USB drive and a hard drive he used at his wife’s business in Akron. At his trial, one of his defense claims was that a computer virus downloaded the pornography.

Atkinson was previously convicted in 2011 of indecent assault and related charges regarding a 6-year-old girl. He faced a mandatory minimum 25-year prison term because it was his second conviction of sexual abuse.
