MANHEIM, Pa. (WHTM) – Secret Service agents and local police officers combed through the fieldhouse at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex on Friday.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will hold a rally at the massive venue on Saturday.
Duane Hagelgans, a public information officer for the South Central Task Force, said those going to the rally will see metal detectors as soon as they walk through the doors.
“This is like any other event where you have a large assembly of people,” Hagelgans said. “Our whole concern is basically the citizens, the people that are here at Spooky Nook, and even the people who are not here for this event.”
It’s expected that about 5,000 will come to hear Trump speak.
Hagelgans said police in uniform and in street clothes will be at Spooky Nook. He said things like water bottles, signs on sticks, and food are not allowed inside the event.
“If you don’t need it, leave it at home,” he said. “The less things people bring to the event, the quicker people will be able to get in.”
Haglegans said heavy traffic is expected around the Salunga Exit of Route 283. He said Spooky Nook Road and Champ Boulevard will also be busy.
Doors for the even open at 3 p.m. Trump is expected to take the stage at 7 p.m.
