Man jailed in police chase faces more charges

ENOLA, Pa. (WHTM) – Police have filed more charges against a man accused of stealing a pickup truck and leading officers on a pursuit from Cumberland to Dauphin County this week.

East Pennsboro Township police say 40-year-old James J. Haines stole two televisions from the Kmart on North Enola Road on Sept. 18. He was charged Friday with retail theft.

Haines was arrested Wednesday after Carlisle police said he stole a Toyota Tacoma from the 600 block of Franklin Street and led officers on a chase from Route 581 into Harrisburg. The pursuit ended in Swatara Township shortly the Toyota crashed down an embankment.

He was jailed in the Cumberland County Prison on $199,000 bail.
