Coroner: Deadly car crash followed police pursuit in York


The York County Coroner’s office said a deadly crash late Thursday night in York followed a police pursuit.

The coroner said the crash killed 51-year-old Carl Snellings of York. Police said it was unclear if Snellings was driving or riding in the car that police were chasing, but said he was ejected from the vehicle. It’s unclear if there was anyone else in the car, the coroner said.

Pa. State Police are investigating the crash due to the pursuit by York City Police.

Snellings died at the scene of the crash. An autopsy has been set for Saturday morning.


York, Pa. (WHTM) – An investigation is underway after a deadly crash in York City.

It happened just before 11:30 last night along McKenzie Street near Pleasant Avenue. We’re told the York County Coroner was called to the scene.

It’s not clear if anyone else was injured.

Pennsylvania State Police say they will release more information later today.
