Hit-and-run driver who injured 5-year-old girl identified, police say

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police say they’ve identified a hit-and-run driver who struck a 5-year-old girl in Cumberland County.

Upper Allen Township police said the driver turned himself in Thursday morning after seeing news reports and “retracing his steps.” His name was not immediately released.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed so far.

The girl was struck Wednesday afternoon in the 1100 block of Granada Lane.

She was awake and talking after the incident and was taken to Holy Spirit Hospital for treatment. Police said she has a few scratches but no broken bones. They said she was released from the hospital and is doing well.

Investigators said she may have run into the side of the car.
