Cumberland County Prison inmate found dead in cell

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the Cumberland County Prison.

Corrections officers found David M. Atraga unresponsive in his cell on Saturday afternoon and rescue efforts by prison staff and an EMS crews were not successful, Warden Earl Reitz said in a statement.

Atraga had been jailed in the prison since May 5 for a parole violation.

The Cumberland County Coroner’s Office and Middlesex Township police are investigating.
