YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – Police say a city man stabbed his uncle to death in an argument over drugs.
Ronald Carter, 56, of York, was arrested Friday on charges of criminal homicide and robbery, according to police and court documents.
Carter is accused of killing his uncle, 66-year-old Terry Leonard, at a boarding home in the 600 block of West King Street. Leonard was found dead in his second-floor room on Sept. 2.
According to the criminal complaint, a witness told police that Carter and Leonard were smoking crack cocaine the previous night and Carter asked Leonard for money to buy more drugs.
When Leonard refused, Carter grabbed Leonard’s wallet from a sofa cushion. As the two men wrestled over the wallet, Carter pulled a knife and stabbed Leonard in the chest, the witness told police.
Carter was denied bail at York County Prison. A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 26.
