HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – GE Appliances is recalling about 222,000 clothes washers that can overheat and catch fire.
The company has received 71 reports of internal components burning or catching fire, including three reports of fires that resulted in about $129,000 in property damage, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
No injuries have been reported.
The recall is for three models of GE Profile high-efficiency top-loading clothes washers. The model numbers are WPGT9350, WPGT9360, and WPGT9150.
The washers were sold at Best Buy, Lowe’s, Sears, Home Depot and other stores from June 2003 through October 2011 for between $900 and $1,400.
