Flare-ups from massive blaze continue at Lemoyne lumber yard

LEMOYNE, Pa. (WHTM) – Firefighters returned to Cumberland County lumber yard again Thursday to put out another flare-up from this week’s massive blaze.

Officials have said repeated flare-ups in the debris are delaying the investigation into Monday night’s fire at Lafferty and Co. Inc. in Lemoyne.

More than 100 firefighters from at least 40 companies took part in a 15-hour battle against the flames that destroyed four buildings filled with lumber and burned an estimated $1 million worth of wood. The flames also damaged Vicious Cycles after spreading to the neighboring motorcycle service shop.

A state police investigator has said it’s possible they may never know the cause because evidence could be too damaged to provide answers.
