2 dead in apparent murder-suicide in York County

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – Authorities say a man fatally shot his estranged wife and then killed himself at her York County home.

Susan Hoke, 50, and Scott Hoke, 42, were found dead after police responded to a 911 call from the home in the 1200 block of Summit Run Court in Jackson Township at around 10:40 p.m. Monday, according to Northern York County Regional police and York County Coroner Pam Gay’s office.

Investigators said Scott Hoke somehow gained entrance to the home where his estranged wife was living. Both were found dead in the kitchen.

Susan Hoke died of a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death is homicide. Scott Hoke, of North Codorus Township, died of a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death is suicide, Gay’s office said.

The couple were separated and Susan Hoke had a protection from abuse order against Scott Hoke, police said.

A 17-year-old girl in the home was not harmed. Police said she fled to a neighbor’s home and called 911.

Police are still investigating. There will be no autopsy.
