Driver stopped on I-81 had 4 pounds of pot, police say

Sammy O. Sole

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – Police say a Georgia man stopped on Interstate 81 had found pounds of marijuana in his trunk.

Sammy O. Sole, 41, was pulled over Tuesday morning in Middlesex Township for an obscured license plate. According to a criminal complaint filed by state police, the trooper smelled marijuana and ran a records check that showed Sole had a suspended driver’s license and an active warrant from Georgia.

Sole refused a search of his black Lexus, so the trooper requested a drug detection dog and the K-9 alerted to the trunk, the complaint states. Police said they searched the car and found four bags of marijuana in a silver shoe box.

Sole is charged with possession with the intent to deliver, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and summary traffic offenses.

He was jailed in Cumberland County Prison on $100,000 bail.
