HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Eleven people died and 223 others were injured in 704 crashes investigated by Pennsylvania State Police during the three-day Labor Day weekend.
Police said 61 crashes, including four fatal crashes, were alcohol-related.
Troopers cited 769 people for not wearing seat belts and issued citations to 198 drivers who didn’t secure children in safety seats. They also ticketed 11,341 drivers for speeding and arrested 590 for driving under the influence.
Last year, nine people died and 230 others were injured in 664 crashes investigated by state police.
The statistics cover only crashes investigated by state police, not local law enforcement.
