HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A former Fairview Township police officer has admitted in federal court that he stole money seized as evidence in drug cases.

Tyson Baker, 42, of Etters, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of theft of federal funds, according to U.S. Attorney Peter Smith’s office.

A sentencing date has not been scheduled.

Authorities said Baker in November stole $2,000 from $14,000 in cash seized from a suspected marijuana dealer.

Another Fairview Township officer worked with the FBI and recorded Baker talking about how the officer should steal money from drug traffickers during traffic stops.

In December, the FBI set up a sting in which Fairview Township police stopped an undercover agent. Authorities said Baker had the vehicle towed, and a video camera recorded him as he searched without a warrant and stole $3,000 from $15,000 concealed in a gym bag.

The FBI arrested him, and he confessed to both incidents.
