Drought conditions lead to strict water restrictions

LYKENS, Pa (WHTM) – Due to continuing drought conditions, the Lykens Borough Water Authority is putting strict water conservation restrictions in place in Lykens and Wiconisco.

Residents of the Dauphin County boroughs are prohibited from watering lawns and gardens, washing vehicles, washing driveways and sidewalks, filling swimming pools, and using water for display purposes like fountains and reflecting pools.

Commercial washing of cars and trucks is still allowed. However, all other non-essential commercial water use is prohibited.

In a public notice announcing the restrictions, the water authority said people found wasting water will face “severe disciplinary action.”
