MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A grocery store in Cumberland County has become the first in the Midstate to sell takeout wine.
Gov. Tom Wolf and other state officials on Thursday celebrated the launch of wine-to-go sales at the Wegmans store in Mechanicsburg.
Changes made to Pennsylvania’s liquor law this year allow businesses with restaurant or hotel licenses, which let them sell beer to go, apply for permission to sell takeout wine.
Wegmans says it applied for wine permits for all 17 of its Pennsylvania stores.
Several other Midstate stores have been approved for takeout wine sales.
