Maine trucker facing trial in fatal Derry Township crash

HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) – A Maine truck driver faces trial for a February crash that killed two people on Hersheypark Drive.

All charges against 61-year-old Joseph Zucco Jr. were held for Dauphin County Court after a preliminary hearing on Thursday.

Derry Township police say Zucco was driving a truck tractor at an unsafe speed when he failed to stop for a red light and crashed into a minivan, killing 49-year-old Julie Watson of Harrisburg and her father, 83-year-old George Storer of Hershey.

Zucco is charged with two felony counts of homicide by vehicle, two misdemeanor counts of involuntary manslaughter, and summary traffic violations.

A formal arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 28.
