Harrisburg starts booting cars for unpaid parking tickets

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Drivers with unpaid parking tickets in Pennsylvania’s capital city now face the boot.

SP Plus, the company that operates Harrisburg’s parking garages and metered spaces, began booting vehicles with three or more unpaid tickets on Thursday.

Once a car is booted, the owner must pay all outstanding fines and an extra $75 to have the boot removed. If full payment isn’t made within 48 hours of booting, the vehicle will be towed at the owner’s expense.

SP Plus said drivers with outstanding parking fines should contact the district judge’s office where the summons was filed and arrange to make a payment.
