HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A 45-year-old woman will serve up to two years in Dauphin County Prison for attempting to purchase heroin with her public assistance card.
Denise L. Lopez, of Gardners, was sentenced to 6 to 24 months in prison on Wednesday.
Her arrest stems from a call she made to a heroin dealer’s cell phone that was seized from Harrisburg detectives.
During the call, Lopez asked if she could buy heroin in exchange for a $100 ACCESS card.
Lopez and a friend, who has not been identified, met the undercover detective in downtown Harrisburg to make the deal.
Lopez and the friend were given fake heroin before being taken into custody.
As part of her sentence, Lopez was also ordered to complete a six-month rehabilitation program.
