HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM) – Utz Quality Foods, Inc. has entered into a definitive merger agreement under which it will acquire the Golden Flake snack-food brand, the companies announced Tuesday.
Hanover-based Utz distributes its line of potato chips, pretzels and other snacks to East Coast states from Virginia to Maine. The Golden Flakes line of potato chips, corn chips, popcorn, cheese curls, and other snack foods is produced at plants in Alabama and Florida and sold at stores across the South, according to company websites.
In a joint statement, Utz CEO Dylan Lissette said Golden Flake’s product line, market coverage, and manufacturing facilities blend well with Utz’s desire to expand and grow its markets in the South.
The merger must be approved by state and federal regulators. The companies expect to close the deal by the end of the year.
