Police: Harrisburg man had 277 pirated movies

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A Harrisburg man is accused of selling pirated movies at a Cumberland County truck stop.

Middlesex Township police said 33-year-old Joseph Bennett reportedly was selling the counterfeit DVDs at the Flying J Travel Plaza on Harrisburg Pike last week.

When officers questioned him, they said Bennett wouldn’t cooperate, so they obtained a search warrant for his black bag and found 277 DVD movies, all poorly covered and consistent with illegal copies.

An investigator for the Motion Picture Associated of America confirmed the movies were counterfeit, police said in a complaint.

For each DVD, police charged Bennett with a felony count of selling illegally recorded devices.
