Flash flooding forces road closures, leaves some stranded

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) – The water is beginning to recede in Lancaster County after flash flooding forced the closure of area roads and left some motorists stranded.

Torrential rains moved through Lancaster Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service says three or more inches fell south of the city, causing street flooding and road closures.

Officials say there were multiple reports of people being rescued from vehicles that were stuck in high water. No injuries were reported.

Officials say some roads were shut down for hours.

As the water continues to recede, the weather service is urging people to use caution and not drive through areas where water covers the road.
