Carlisle man pleads guilty to 2 bank robberies

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A Carlisle man has admitted in federal court to armed bank robberies in Mechanicsburg and Dillsburg last year.

Jeffrey Turns, 32, pleaded guilty to robbing the Fulton Bank in the Dillsburg Shopping Center on Aug. 12, 2015 and the Santander Bank in the 700 block of East Simpson Street on Aug. 27, 2015.

He was arrested just after the second robbery.

Turns also pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations. Authorities said he fled the Mechanicsburg robbery in a stolen car and had one firearm in his waistband and nine more guns in the back of the car.

He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison at sentencing.
