It’s something every new parent seems to struggle with– proper car seat use. Dave Maceiko was here to discuss the new car seat law and what changes parents/childcare providers will need to make with their car seats.
“Studies from the medical community and vehicle manufacturers have found that the first two years are vital in the development of the head, neck and spine of a child. In a crash, the effect of the force or the “ride down,” is better absorbed by a child who is rear facing. As children get older, the head, neck, and spine are more developed. An older child in a forward facing system can ride down the crash forces more effectively,” tells Dave.
