I-81 South reopens after fatal crash at Scotland

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Three miles of Interstate 81 South were closed after a fatal crash for several hours Monday afternoon.

State police Trooper Rob Hicks confirmed one person died after the multi-vehicle crash that occurred around 1:38 p.m. at mile marker 17.5.

I-81 South was closed between Exit 20 for Route 997 and Scotland and Exit 17 for Walker Road until 5 p.m.

The northbound lanes were closed at 2:40 p.m. between Exit 16 for Route 30 and Exit 17 but reopened by 3 p.m.

A medical helicopter was on the scene.

No additional details were immediately available.
