The Harrisburg Senators bats were silent on Saturday night in a 3-0 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils. Michael Brady started and pitched five effective innings allowing just a two runs on a two-run home run in the second inning by Jake Fox but took the loss. The Senators have dropped four straight games and are 42-38 on the season while Reading improves to 59-23 with their sixth straight win.
Andrew Robinson followed Brady and pitched two innings, allowing just a run on a home run by Dylan Cozens. The Senators held Reading’s offense to just five hits on the night but two of the five were home runs.
Harrisburg had one good scoring chance which came in the seventh inning. Both Neftali Soto and Isaac Ballou reached on errors, but a double play followed by a walk and an inning ending fielder’s choice ended the threat. Andrew Stevenson was the lone Senator with two hits in the game.
Jonathan Papelbon pitched a scoreless inning for the Senators for the second consecutive game.
Mark Leiter, Jr. started for Reading and pitched 6.2 innings earning the win. Miguel Nunez pitched a perfect ninth to earn the save.
Harrisburg and Reading play the final game of their four game series Sunday night, beginning at 6:35. Phillips Valdez takes the hill for Harrisburg against Reading’s Thomas Eshelman.
