MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – Beatrice Ravegum, better known as “B”, told ABC27 News she had something swiped from her front yard.
“The one that they took was right here,” she said, gesturing to her garden.
Criminals swiped one of her prized crane statues.
“You feel like you’re violated,” Ravegum said. “Somebody feels like they can take whatever they want.”
Millersville police said they’ve had at least three incidents involving thefts of iron patio furniture.
“Those who are looking to make a quick buck are going to look for any item of any value,” Sergeant Jeff Margevich said. “Right now, metal items and scrap metal is worth money and it’s an easy target.”
Margevich said police think the criminals are selling the metal for money to buy drugs.
“The force multiplier for us are the citizens and they need to pay attention to any strange vehicle at any strange times,” he said.
Ravegum said she now takes the rest of her patio items inside at night. She said she is still hopeful that her missing prized crane will be returned.
“I saved for that,” she said. “Somebody deprived me of that.”
Police also suggested that residents use locks for items outside.
