HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – There’s a plant that I love to talk about this time of year because this is when it’s in it’s glory: crape myrtles.
Anybody who has ever gone down South to the beach may have seen these glorious trees.
Now, there are varieties that you can grow in this area, although the last few winters have been hard on them. But what most people don’t realize, not only are they tree form, there are also dwarfs that stay relatively small so you can plant them in a small area.
Check out the number of varieties that you can pick from; everything from white to dynamite, which is a bright red color.
The fun thing about crape myrtles is they bloom now when everything else is very tired looking.
Remember, crape myrtles like to be in full sun.
