For today’s GDPA Summer School segment, Amy and Patrick are testing their vocabulary skills! The Vocab Jar is an easy way to keep your young ones’ brains active this summer.
The idea came from WhatDoWeDoAllDay.com.
- Take a jar, bowl, basket, etc. and slips in pieces of paper with age-appropriate vocabulary words. (The blog suggested lists from Flocabulary.com)
- Each morning, have the child draw one word. Talk about its meaning. (Note, this activity is about definitions, not spelling.)
- Encourage child to use the word in context as many times as she/he can during the day.
Check out the video above to see the activity in action.
